I know a student who came from China to America on a summer exchange program.She told me something she felt very strange. She was hosted by an American family. The couple were both lawyers with four boys,the youngest of whom was in elementary school and the oldest in the senior high. Thier house was big and they had yacht and private jet. They appeared to be very wealthy but lived a simple life. Once the parents went on vacation. They left four porsions of food in their big refrigerator. Same food,same amount,and one for one child. In addition,each boy was assigned with one share of housework,namely,mowing the lawn,cleaning the swimming pool,cleaning the kitchen,and cleaning the washroom and the like. One portion of food is not enough for the older boy but too much for the younger. Then the older asked the younger for some food,and the younger spare the surplus of his portion of food with his brother on condition that his brother help him in his share of housework.
