Good morning/afternoon/evening, everyone,

    It’s my great honor to have the opportunity to make a speech. The topic of my speech is “Doing Things Right or Doing Right Things”.

Let’s start with an old Chinese story. Once a man wanted to go to the south, but he let his carriage to run quickly to the north. A passer-by stopped him and asked him, “If you are going to the south, why do you run towards the north?” The man answered, “My horse is good at running, my driver is highly skilled at driving, and I have enough money. ” Then he continued his journey. The story tells us, although we master some skills that can help us do things right, yet we can’t still get the satisfactory result without the right direction. 

Words can’t express how lucky I am. I am a boy who has the opportunity to make the proper choice when I am in the dilemma. Facing the fierce competition in the future, most students can hardly balance the relationships between exams and hobbies. However, it is possible for me to insist on what I should do with the great help of my mother who always firmly believes that students should do the right things. Keeping the hobby of playing football is the right thing for me. Not only can it relax myself, but also it helps me to learn the important spirit of teamwork. As my mother expected, the hobby doesn’t get in the way of my schoolwork. On the contrary, just because I enjoy the time when I am playing football, I can totally devote myself to studying.

Therefore we should first work out what right things are. The next step is to do things right. We learn from our teachers and persons around us. We can also learn from books, medias and history. Everyone has its  own learning style. Just remember we aim at doing things right and just do it then.
    As far as I am concerned, it is necessary for us to have the ability that can help us to do things right, we are all supposed to develop the ability to make smart choices as well. With them we can have a meaningful life.
